How to leave StudioClarity
Your studio's data is yours. You can take all of it with you whenever you like, there's no contract, and leaving costs nothing. Here's exactly how.
1. Download all of your data
Sign in as the studio owner and go to Settings → Your data → Download all data. You get a zip of spreadsheets (CSV files) that open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, and that most studio software can import:
- Families, the people on each account (parents, guardians, staff), and students
- Seasons, classes, teams and packages, fees, enrollments and attendance
- Every invoice, and the full ledger of charges, payments, credits and refunds (the same format as the accounting export)
- Your activity log, and the music, videos and documents you uploaded for classes
You can download it as often as you want, before or after you decide to leave.
2. Move your families' saved cards
We never see or store full card or bank numbers. They're held by our payment processor, Stripe, in your studio's Stripe account. Stripe can send them securely to your new processor, so families don't have to re-enter their cards:
- Ask your new processor for their card-migration details. They must be PCI DSS compliant to receive card data.
- From your Stripe Dashboard, contact Stripe support and request a card data export to that processor. Stripe's guide: exporting card data.
- Start early: the transfer is handled by Stripe and the new processor, and can take a couple of weeks.
- Can't get into the Stripe account? Email [email protected] and we'll file the request with Stripe for you.
3. Close your account
When you're ready, go to Settings → Your data → Close studio account and type your studio's web address to confirm.
- Your studio's pages close right away, and families, staff and kiosks are signed out.
- We don't email your families. Tell them yourself where to go next, and settle any open invoices first.
- For 30 days you can still sign in as the owner to download your data.
- After 30 days we delete everything except the financial records (invoices, payments, credits, refunds and the activity log) that tax and payment law requires us to keep, and signed waivers, which are your evidence if a claim comes later.
4. No fee, ever
There's no exit fee, no cancellation fee and no notice period. Plans are month to month; once you close, you're not charged again. Exporting your data and moving your cards is free.
